BBC coverage of the Olympics came from a pre-fab studio which you may have seen before as it was more or less the same studio that was used for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, with the very same sofa too. The studio itself was packed up and shipped back to the UK following the football world cup, to be re-constructed atop the fairly temporary foundation of 18 shipping containers at the Olympic Village.

Sustainability and value for money went hand in hand by re-using the same studio. Not only did this save on costs but environmentally it was very low impact requiring no major building works or structural foundations. All of the materials which went into this studio were used again; the containers were later returned to sea, the lift was donated to the Sea Cadets and the studios were broken down ready for retrieval or for future use.

Could we perhaps be seeing the very same studio cropping up in Rio in 2016?
