Bristol based company Olaus Roe recently shot for a production filming in London, Vancouver, China, Turkey and Bristol. Having chosen to save carbon and cost across the production by hiring crew on location, the team had the challenge of finding competent local crews who could provide exactly the same kit (Canon C300 with CP2 prime lenses as well as a specific Macro Lens) at each location.
Olaus Roe worked with Eyefish, a global on-line database of peer-reviewed freelancers and suppliers, in order to meet the needs of their production whilst bringing their carbon footprint into check. As well as saving the team carbon, the Olaus Roe representative who did travel was able to check in at the airport carrying just personal bags making for a much smoother trip.
Overall Olaus Roe saved around 2.9 tonnes of CO₂ and £4,200 taking into account excess baggage, customs carnet and number of days we had to hire the equipment for.
