BBC North’s Breakfast and Politics Show studios and all News studios at the BBC’s headquarters in London are now exclusively lit by low energy lighting. Trailblazers - Breakfast took the title of first exclusively low-energy lit national broadcast in 2011, nevertheless, the technology is now commonplace across many of the BBC’s news studios.

Technical Info

Prior to the switch, Breakfast was broadcast from Television Centre in London, the lighting and set drew 300 amps. Now using 6 x 103 inch plasma screens (which use a lot less power than LCDs) and efficient lamps manufactured by De Sisti, the Salford studio draws a fraction on the power at 37 amps.
