ITV’s Consortium representative, Julia Giannini spoke to us about what the announcement means for ITV’s teams:
“At ITV we’re committed to creating programmes with the biggest impact on the audience and the smallest impact on the planet. Our announcement that all ITV Studios, Sport and Regional News programmes will be albert certified is just one way we’re working to achieve this.
2019 was the year of digging into the detail – our data, processes and policies, to set the baseline for our 1.5 degree science based emissions target, our zero waste target and our 100% sustainable supply chain targets. I’m proud of what we achieved in 2019, as our latest Social Purpose Impact Report sets out.
We’ll only create real change if everyone, no matter where they sit in the business, builds environmental considerations into every decision. That’s why we’ve rolled out Climate Crisis to Climate Action training sessions, delivered by the albert team, to every ITV colleague, starting in the UK.
Next it’s time for action – finalising our environmental target roadmaps, and acting on the creative opportunities our targets present right across ITV – on screen as well as behind the scenes. There’s a lot to be done, but the business is ready to drive the change, now more than ever.”
