How BinnensteBuiten inspires sustainable living in the Netherlands

The Dutch lifestyle show, translated as 'Inside Out', broadcasts daily and gives viewers advice on living sustainably, both inside and outside the home

Delicious recipes, a segment on meat alternatives, alternative farming methods, an educational nature walk with a forester or the best ways to style your house with thrift shop treasures – BinnesteBuiten offers it on a daily basis to Dutch viewers.

The show (25 minutes per episode) has three main recurring segments: passion for food, home inspiration and outdoor life.

 

Food

The majority of dishes presented are vegetarian or vegan, additionally, the BinnensteBuiten website highlights a vegan recipe section to makes things easily accessible. Additionally, the dishes are cooked on electric stoves which are seen on screen.

Home inspiration

BinnensteBuiten promotes and highlights reused and recycled items as well as vintage or thrift shop treasures and shows alternative housing options such as those which are ‘off the grid’ or minimalist ‘tiny-houses’.

Outdoor life

Each episode contains a segment on Dutch nature and teaches viewers about flora, fauna and biodiversity. For example, Camilla Dreef, who is BinnensteBuiten’s resident birdwatching expert showcases the best spots to see birds in the Netherlands.
