EastEnders has continued its sustainable journey in several ways, in addition to the steps the show has already taken in the past.

All food served on set is now vegetarian, unless it is specifically scripted as meat.  This saves money and environmental impact. In addition, all the on set food waste and any other compostable waste, like the flowers from the flower stall or from a wedding or funeral, are now collected for anerobic digestion.  So instead of creating methane, rotting in landfill, this waste is being used to generate energy.

Walford has also embraced electric vehicles and has its own electric car sharing scheme, charging point and the Garage now sells electric  cars.  Off set, EastEnders has two hybrid technical vans and is extending their hybrid fleet to the props department with the order of a hybrid props van.
