Isle of Dogs (2018)

Wes Anderson’s 2018 animated feature is set in the futuristic, densely populated Japanese city, Megasaki. The city’s Mayor Kobayashi has signed a bill to exile dogs, all of which have contracted the dog flu, to Trash Island.

Most of the film takes place on Trash Island, which is solely used for the disposal of trash which can be seen as commentary on humanity’s consumption and creation of waste.
