As audiences demand more sustainable action from every sector, Green Rider offers the screen industry a way to lead by example, uniting cultural influence with practical change
Green Rider is a movement of artists and productions shifting the TV & film industry towards a greener, fairer and healthier way of working. Launched in August 2023, the Green Rider team have helped producers, actors and crew cut pollution by up to 80% on productions like The Capture, Wolf Hall, and Gangs of London.
The Green Rider Handshake is an offer for collaboration between artist and production. Backed by BAFTA albert & Equity, the agreement is being used by major productions and leading actors to transform our industry. The Handshake lays out actions both parties can take to upgrade their impact, and it can be amended to each actor’s/production’s circumstances. The focus is progress, not purity. Shifting star power from consumption to collaboration.
BAFTA albert launched the Green Rider campaign in 2020. The campaign is now spearheaded by Equity and the actor-led Green Rider team. BAFTA albert continues to fully endorse the campaign, and adopting the Green Rider in your production is a big step towards reducing a production’s carbon footprint.
