Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025)

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy provides a great example of how climate content and the importance of nature can be embedded authentically into both character and storyline.

Character Framing

References to climate change and the environment give further context to the characters in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. Leo Woodall’s character, Roxster, has his heartthrob appeal enhanced through his unique job as a “garbologist,” whilst Mr. Walliker’s deep connection to nature adds to his attraction. Bridget Jones herself, often underestimated at work, demonstrates her in-depth knowledge of environmental issues in preparation for a live interview with the Environmental Minister. These environmentally conscious narratives add depth to the storyline while remaining true to Bridget’s character and the series’ signature wit.

Reusing Clothing

The production cleverly reused props and reintroduced familiar wardrobe pieces from previous films (including those big pants), evoking a strong sense of nostalgia and deepening the emotional connection to Bridget’s story and character. By incorporating second-hand clothing, the film not only honoured its roots (including those iconic pants) but also embraced sustainable practices. Additionally, many of the props and costumes were donated to charities and organizations, promoting reuse and minimizing waste.
