A new calculator and certification tool is coming in 2021.

Here's everything you need to know...

albert has developed an updated version of its calculator and certification tools and they will launch in early 2021. The new toolkit will continue to be available to all UK based production companies but can now be used by production companies around the world too

Together, we will be able to build up an even better picture of the screen industry’s global impact and work together, sharing best practice to reduce our emissions to zero.

Over the coming weeks we will be adding more information to this page on what you can expect from the new tools as well as answering all your questions.

The updates will mean:

*a better user journey for all with increased ‘tips and tricks’ to help at each stage of the process

*the ability to accurately track the impact of your production no matter where in the world you’re filming

*more reports and charts to understand your impact and where you can make changes

*for UK based productions, the opportunity to offset the remainder of your carbon footprint using our Creative Offsets scheme

*a revised set of certification questions including a new editorial question, to track how the environment is being brought into on screen content

When will the new calculator launch?

The new calculator and carbon action plan tools will launch in early Jan 2021. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned user or have never used them before, all you need to do to get started is click through from the WeAreAlbert website.

If you have an existing username and password, this will still work. If you don’t or have forgotten yours, you can set up an account or get sent a reminder.

Will all my old data be on the new site?

Yes. All footprints associated with your account will be moved over to the new site.

Please be aware that for completed footprints, we will only transfer the final footprint data, for footprints that are in progress, we will transfer over any data you have already input.

I’m halfway through a footprint on the current calculator, what should I do?

The albert team will be manually moving over any footprints that are ‘in progress’ at the point of switchover. When you log into the new site, you’ll see your footprint and associated data there.

If you can, please do finish any outstanding footprints & certifications by 31 December.

What’s a Carbon Action Plan?

Carbon Action Plan is the new name for the steps you need to take if you want to be awarded the albert Certification for your endboard. The process is very similar to before – you will need to answer a series of questions and we will request certain pieces of evidence to ascertain if you have achieved albert certification.

Creative Offsets

Over the coming weeks we will be launching our new Creative Offsets scheme to help productions offset what they can’t reduce. We’ll be sending some updates through soon and in the meantime we answer some key questions below.

*Please note that from the 2nd Jan 2024 offsetting is no longer a mandatory part of certification but you may still chose to offset your production emissions through our Creative Offsets scheme.

I haven’t budgeted to offset – what should I do?

We appreciate that for larger productions, where the cost to offset is higher, it might not be possible to retrospectively add this to your budget. If this is the case, contact us to discuss. For smaller productions, you might find the cost to offset is pretty insignificant and can be done, despite not being planned at the budgeting stage
