Key takeaways from the albert X AimHi Earth Climate Essentials Masterclass

This week 1,300 people from across the screen industries attended the albert and AimHi Earth Climate Essentials Masterclass, sponsored by Sunbelt rentals.

This was our biggest online event ever.

The masterclass was followed by a brilliant panel event where we were joined by champions of sustainability in TV and Film; Ade Adepitan MBE and Dame Pippa Harris. Here are some of the highlights we took away from the discussion.

Everyone has a part to play.

We can all make changes that will add up to create climate action – from the editorial and production leads to the hair and make-up team.

Never be afraid to ask questions.

We’re in this together, the more we talk to each other, ask questions and share learnings the bigger the impact we can make.

Empower audiences.

Climate action is more impactful when we stop trying to limit people and show them how their choices can make a difference.

Climate action is about more than off screen choices.

We can use our industry to highlight environmental challenges to our audiences – like sports commentators highlighting how climate change is impacting the conditions athletes have to compete with at live sporting events.

Climate content can be subtle.

In shows like Call the Midwife, the cast bring environmentally friendly choices to life with additions like riding bikes to work and a farming a community allotment.
