albert’s going to COP26

Key UK broadcasters are hosting a series of events in collaboration with albert from COP26 in Glasgow this November

We’re chuffed to be supporting the convening of the UK broadcasters (BBC, ITV, C4, STV, Sky) who are coming together at with a series of live events, which are also being supported by Natural Capital Partners, experts in carbon neutrality and climate finance, and partners of albert’s creative offset scheme.

The week-long series of events (beginning November 1st) will cover topics from sport production to continuing drama, comedy to news reporting. Each event will feature industry voices from each of the broadcasters as well as clips and case studies to highlight best practice. Alongside an invited audience, the events will be live streamed for free, via the BAFTA Guru YouTube page.

You can find out more about the individual events and book your tickets from the events slider below.

What is COP26? Why is it important the screen industries have a presence?

The word ‘COP’ stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’. ‘The Parties’ are the governments which have signed the UN Framework Convention of Climate Change (UNFCCC). COP brings these signatory governments together once a year to discuss how to jointly address climate change. The UK is hosting this year’s COP26 in Glasgow.

By discussing and showcasing the work happening in the UK screen industries, we hope to ignite the conversation with broadcasters globally and allow for further collaboration across the world, both on screen and behind the scenes to share best practice and inspire the industry to do even more to reach Net Zero by 2050.

Through albert, the TV industry has been ahead of the curve with understanding and addressing their impacts and stepping up to the creative opportunity for the past 10 years. This industry should be proud of their radical collaboration which sets a great foundation for us to lead a charge against the climate crisis. Our events will be a showcase of how the TV sector is stepping up to the challenge on and off screen across news, comedy and soaps and more
